How Sedation Dentistry Works
Preparation for your sedation visit is easy and cautious. Here is what you can anticipate
Step 1: The Consultation
The initial step is a consultation with our staff. While in our clinic, we will discuss the treatment that you require and how sedation will function. Our dentist in Vancouver will also review your medical history in detail. This is a critical step to ensure you are in good health for the sedation and dental treatment. We will also provide you with concise instructions on what you should do prior to and after your visit. You will receive instructions so you can have easy access later.
Step 2: The Procedure
On the day of your visit, we will get you settled into the dental chair. One of our staff will insert the tiny IV line into your arm. The medication will take effect within a short time, and you will feel extremely relaxed and calm. Numerous patients report not remembering much of the procedure afterward, which is a big advantage in terms of sedation. This allows our dentists to finish your treatment smoothly and effectively, usually in one visit.
Step 3: After the Procedure
Once your treatment is completed, we will monitor you as the effects of the sedation fade. You will have a friend or family member drive you home. Sedation will make you a bit sleepy, so it is not safe for you to drive. We will ensure you are stable and comfortable before sending you home. You will also receive a list of dos and don’ts for home care to ensure a quick and uneventful recovery.
